What a day to be outside, if even for quick stroll. Or, maybe you can steal away an hour or two. Here are two ideas. Celebrate the sunshine!
The Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, Queens, is a haven for art lovers who come to admire the thought-provoking sculptures as well as the Manhattan skyline views (socratessculpturepark.org.) And, the off-the-radar Shakespeare Garden that’s tucked away in Central Park (centralpark.com.) is a romantic strolling spot; a nod to the Bard is evident with quotations from his works on bronze plaques. Really pumped for Andy Pettitte and the Yanks! Great season in NYC, playoffs, colorful leaves, crisp apples (dipped in caramel!) and Presidential and Vice Presidential debates this year. Love it up, New York!
Hello savvy savers! Everyone’s trying to cut back these days and, while many people think NYC is off limits because of expensive restaurants and museums, they would be wrong. There are tons of ways to get more bang for your buck, including lots of freebie options. For instance, you can “pay as you wish” at several museums, including The Museum of Natural History. And, get this, the Museum of Modern Art is free on Friday nights. For restaurant discounts, hit up NYC & Company’s site (nycgo.com) or, visit them at their Seventh Avenue location. Another freebie: ice skating in Bryant Park. Yep, it’s free! Crave more ideas? Read my recent Travel Channel article http://www.travelchannel.com/destinations/new-york-city. Fun in the City for less buckaroos!
